There are many different sizes of self storage units to choose from. Deciding the right size depends on your needs.
INDOOR & OUTDOOR STORAGE UNITS
Many facilities offer indoor and outdoor storage units. Indoor units are located within a large storage facility. These units offer an additional layer of protection from the elements. An Outdoor unit offers ease of access. Many find the benefit of being able to drive right up to the door of your unit desirable.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE STORAGE UNIT
Here are a few of the most important considerations for how to choose a storage unit.
Let’s get started.
- Take an inventory of all the items you plan to store.
- Stage all your items to get a good idea of the size unit you’ll need (use a tape measure how much space you need). Try using different containers or boxes to figure out the most efficient way to store everything.
- Choose a storage unit that’s a little bigger than your stuff. You’d be surprised once you’ve filled up your unit how much space it takes. Remember you’ll need to leave space to get to things you need from time to time. Don’t forget, you’ll need extra space to provide ventilation so that your belongings don’t get mold or mildew.
- Review the unit sizes below to help guide your sizing selection. Our Size Guide will help you choose the unit that is the perfect size for your needs.
